EMDR Therapy
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based therapy designed to help the brain process and heal from distressing experiences that may continue to impact your thoughts, emotions, beliefs, relationships, and nervous system.
When overwhelming or traumatic experiences occur, the brain may not fully process them, leaving us feeling stuck in patterns of anxiety, self-doubt, emotional reactivity, avoidance, or chronic nervous system activation. EMDR helps the brain reprocess these experiences so they can be integrated in a way that feels less distressing and disruptive.
Unlike traditional talk therapy, EMDR does not require you to repeatedly discuss every detail of a difficult experience. Instead, it works with the brain's natural healing processes to reduce the emotional intensity associated with painful memories while helping develop more adaptive beliefs about yourself and the world.
EMDR can be helpful for trauma, anxiety, panic, phobias, relationship wounds, negative self-beliefs, and experiences that continue to feel "stuck" despite insight and self-awareness. Many clients find that EMDR allows them to move beyond simply understanding their experiences and begin experiencing lasting emotional and nervous system change.
As an EMDR-trained therapist, I integrate EMDR within a compassionate, nervous system-informed approach, moving at a pace that feels safe and supportive for your unique needs.
