Internal Family Systems (IFS)

Internal Family Systems (IFS), often referred to as "parts work," is a therapeutic approach that helps us understand the different parts of ourselves that influence how we think, feel, and respond to life's challenges.

Most of us have experienced inner conflict at some point—one part of us wants to set boundaries while another fears disappointing others; one part wants to move forward while another feels stuck or afraid. IFS views these parts not as problems to be eliminated, but as protective aspects of ourselves that developed for important reasons.

Through IFS, we explore these different parts with curiosity and compassion rather than judgment. As we begin to understand their roles, fears, and intentions, we can develop a healthier relationship with ourselves and access our core Self—the calm, grounded, wise part of us that exists beneath our protective patterns.

IFS can be especially helpful for trauma, anxiety, perfectionism, people-pleasing, self-criticism, emotional overwhelm, and feelings of being "stuck." Rather than trying to force change, this approach focuses on creating understanding, healing old wounds, and helping all parts of you feel heard and supported.

My approach to IFS is gentle, collaborative, and integrated with nervous system-informed and neuro-affirming care, creating a space where all parts of you are welcome.
